""Why did we pick Redbridge?  I think mainly because there was an established Jewish community.  And of course, it was known as Greenbadge Valley.  Every other house had a taxi outside.  And I just felt at home."

Eastside Community Heritage have completed a project, recording the experiences of the Jewish Communities who moved east into Essex from London’s East End. The project has  recorded and preserved stories of older people, and seeks to  engages the younger generation in and around Redbridge with the heritage of the Jewish communities in London. Young volunteers have the opportunity to participate in workshops and conferences in partnership with COMPAS at Oxford University, and also to visit the Jewish Museum. This website contains material collected by Eastside - but is also a space where you can share your memories, have a look at the 'Your Story' section to find out how!
