The book tells the story of Woodberry Down and it's regeneration. But it is not so much the story of constructions or of bricks and mortars. Rather, it is the story of the building, sustaining and refreshing of a community.
The story is told in the words, photographs and memories of that community, but it has an importance beyond that. It is about the importance of social housing, then and now, and it is concerned with how we build an integrated and mixed community in our great cities.
But most of all it is about working people living, laughing, and, when necessary, protesting together. Thus, it is of past times and a story of our time.
