School Workshops
In spring 2017, Eastside Community Heritage used the oral histories we collected to create fun, engaging and educational drama workshops for primary school students in the local area. The schools we visited produced short pieces of drama around the events of January 19th 1917

The workshops are aimed to teach and engage students in local history and the events of the Silvertown Explosion and also encourage students to develop their understanding of the history of the local area over the past hundred years and think about the changing landscape and communities of the docklands.
Main aims and objectives:
. Educate students about history and life during WWI
. Engage students with local history
. Encourage activities in developing character and emotion
. Encourage students to work together to devise short drama
. Inspire thought about the changing landscape of the local area and impact of changing technologies and industry over the past 100 years.
